Do the needles hurt? No- They are not supposed to hurt.
They are extremely fine and they are inserted quickly by tapping them in while they are in insertion tubes. The needle enters the skin so quickly that patients often comment they didn't feel anything.
Are the needles sterile? Yes- the needles I use are sterile and disposable.
Does acupuncture work? Yes-Effectiveness studies conducted by the World Health Organization have documented and proven that acupuncture and acu-stimulation is effective.
How Many Treatments Will I Need? The number and frequency of treatment varies widely. Acute problems tend to resolve more quickly while a long-standing problem may take numerous treatments.
Does insurance cover acupuncture? Insurance coverage varies widely from state to state. In Arizona only now are some insurance companies beginning to cover acupuncture treatments. Check with your insurance company.
What can Traditional Chinese Medicine effectively treat? Here are a few of the common disorders that are successfully treated with acupuncture and Oriental medicine:
Pain - Headaches (migraines, cluster, tension, and sinus), back pain, osteoarthritis, sciatica, tennis elbow, neck and shoulder pain, trigeminal neuralgia, carpel tunnel syndrome. Muscle spasms, motor vehicle accidents and sports injuries.
Stress - stress related problems such as depression, chronic fatigue and sleep disorders.
Respiratory - allergies and asthma (my specialty), bronchitis, sinusitis, colds and influenza (maybe avoided entirely if you come in early with the first symptoms.)
Digestive - ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, colitis and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome.)
Gynecological - PMS, painful menses, fibrocystic breast disease, menopausal symptoms and infertility.
Autoimmune - rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, Multiple Sclerosis(MS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus, Scleroderma and HIV/AIDS.
Cardiovascular - high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol and heart palpitations.
Addictions - nicotine, alcohol and drug withdrawal.
